Goal of the course

During this Peak Expedition Course in the Himalayas, each participant will learn how to independently climb Himalayan peaks up to 6500m.

Requirements for participants

  • You must be over 18 years old.
  • You will need to be able to walk for 6-7 hours a day with a moderately packed rucksack.
  • You must have some experience in trekking.

During this Peak Expedition Course in the Himalayas, each participant will learn how to independently climb Himalayan peaks up to 6500m.

Description

In this Peak Expedition Course in the Himalayas, you’ll learn how to climb snow & ice on Himalayan peaks, learn all the safety aspects of climbing, how to properly use your climbing equipment, how to make snow anchors, belay your partner, make a fix rope, which equipment to use in which situation, how to train after the course is finished, etc.

On top of that, each participant will learn how to move in the mountain, learn a basic course of meteorology, navigation, how to give first aid in the mountain, etc.

This trip requires a high level of fitness and a few additional items that the normal trekking kit will not contain. Any trip to this kind of altitude can be potentially dangerous, so every medical and technical precaution is taken to safeguard your safety and success. Comprehensive medical equipment, such as oxygen mask, Gammov bag and specialized drugs will be on hand. Ropes and other technical safety equipment are also provided. Safety of the entire group always comes first.

Detailed Daily Program

Day 1

Arrival at Kathmandu airport. Transfer & Hotel accommodation.

Day 2

Visiting Buddhist and Hindu monasteries and temples in Kathmandu.

Day 3

Local flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Arrival at Lukla. Packing of equipment for the
porters. Trek to Phagding about 3 hours.

Day 4

Phagding – Namche Bazaar. Signing in at Sagarmatha National Park. Arrival at the largest Sherpa village – Namche Bazaar.

Day 5

Climb to 4000m (Everest View hotel) for acclimatization and return to Namche Bazaar.

Day 6

Departure from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche. Visiting the most beautiful Buddhist monastery Tengboche.

Day 7

Departure from Tengboche to Pangboche. Overnight in Pangboche.

Day 8

Departure from Pangboche to Dingboche. Rest.

Day 9

Climb for acclimatization to 5100m, Nangar Tsang peak. Return to village.

Day 10

Departure from Dingboche to Chukung (4950 m) – 3 hours walk. Accommodation.

Day 11

Climb for acclimatization to Chukung Re (5550m).

Day 12

Departure from Chukung to Island Peak base camp.

Day 13

A day for acclimatization and rope course in BC. Preparing of personal equipment for the climb.

Day 14

Climb from BC to the top of Island Peak (6189m). After ascent returning to BC.

Day 15

Descent from BC for Pangboche.

Day 16

Descent from Pangboche to Namche Bazaar.

Day 17

Descent from Namche Bazaar to Lukla.

Day 18

Local flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Arrival to Kathmandu. Accommodation.

Day 19

Kathmandu sightseeing & shopping. Catching your flight home.

About the Accommodation

During our expeditions we will change several accommodations depending on our location. We start in double rooms in Kathmandu, then as we trek higher, we'll stay at lodge accommodation where double or triple rooms will be available. And finally, in our base camp, two person tents will be provided. As we go downhill, same accommodation will apply.
