Description
This course is only for German speakers
Creative Writing on the road - find your own words! When you travel to a new location, you will best get to know every piece and inch of it through writing. You open yourself up intuitively and you discover so much through every written word: the place, yourself, the words that live within you. On this beautiful place on earth, named Punta Secca, I would like to inspire you to pause for a moment, to write, to marvel and to relax.
For five days we will slowly explore the beautiful nature in and around Punta Secco together, pen and paper in our hands, ready for the inspiration to hit. Our trips will take us through the dunes of Randello to the ocean and down beneath the eucalyptus trees. We’ll pay a visit to the open-air museum of Kamarina, the castle Donnafugata, to Scicli and the home of the poet Salvatore Quasimodo in the late baroque town Modica. The pen always clenched in your hand, you will have a lot of time to enjoy the beauty, the nature, the history, culture and literature of Sicily and you will see that the words will just pour out of you. Of course we will get a taste of Sicilian cuisine and its wine, and we’ll gather juicy and colourful fruit, like tasty oranges.
Each morning at 9AM we will have breakfast together over some poetry before we start in the day. Afterwards we'll start our daily writing trip. During the course of the day there will be plenty of time to take a quick lunchbreak and enjoy some authentic Sicilian food in a cafe, a restaurant or simply on the side of the road.
Writing can be so full of joy and indulgence, a different way to experience your surroundings and yourself. I never follow a fixed schedule, I don’t need to be in control of each and every second. The gift is to know, to feel the moment you are ready and able to write. That’s the heart of my retreats: Writing out of the spur of the moment.

12  Pictures of the Accommodation and Location
Punta Secca lies on the southern coast of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea. During our writing journey we will discover the beach along the coast of Punta Secca and visit places like the lighthouse, the nature reserve of Randello, the antique open-air museum of Kamarina, the baroque town of Monica, the home of the poet Salvatore Quasimodo and the Castello Donnafugata. All our destinations are in close range of Punta Secca, so we we'll never have to walk or drive for long. The transportation to and from our different day trips will be arranged and is included in the package. Punta Secca was also the shooting location for the screen adaption of the famous books of the Commissario Montalbano by Andrea Camilleri.
During your stay your home will be the lovely ‘Atelier and B&B Sempreverde’ in Punta Secca. It is run by the wonderful jung artist Licia and her family, who will welcome and host you, full of warmth, love and authenticity. The recently constructed building was awarded for ‘Ecological Building in Italy’ in 2018. It is built from clay and straw, making it a creative and artistic haven, just 3 minutes away from the beach. The house offers a roof terrace, where - if the weather allows - we will write and eat. The B&B houses cozy but luxury single or double rooms with en-suite bathrooms. In the mornings we will have breakfast together before starting our day and in the evening we will enjoy freshly cooked traditional Sicilian meals with tasty wines (and maybe even join the cook in the kitchen once).
