Description
Race against the other tall ships from Sunderland to Esbjerg.
A race is appealing for the true sail-fans who are not afraid to get their hands dirty. There will be some fanatic sailing: continuously reefing and shaking the reefs, hoisting the sails and taking them down when the force and direction of the wind requires this, day in and day out.
Although all the ships are different, they are a match for each other due to the different ratings. That means that you do not have to finish first to win the race. Because the race covers a relative small area, the chances are high that we will regularly spot other ships around us. Two times a day we will be briefed through the radio on the position of the other ships and by noting down the positions in the map we will now if we did well or not in the past hours.
In 2017 we have won two races so of course we are going for a prize again!

The three-masted topsail schooner ‘Oosterschelde’ is the last remaining representative of the large fleet of schooners that sailed under the Dutch flag at the beginning of the 20th century. As the largest restored Dutch sailing ship the ‘Oosterschelde’ is a monument for Dutch shipbuilding and maritime navigation under sail. The ship is nevertheless furnished comfortably and supplied with all modern conveniences. All cabins are fitted with a washbasin with hot and cold running water. Showers are communal. In the spacious and stylishly appointed salon there are reading tables, seating areas and a piano. The floor heating and wood-burning stove ensure an agreeable temperature inside. The library offers books on the area being travelled, the flora and fauna and other ships. General literature is also available, as are a number of DVD’s and magazines. Life on board is enhanced by the good meals prepared by our professional chef.
