Description
This year we offer three different weekend workshops in blacksmithing. One weekend you can make your own tools such as the hammer and tongs. This workshop will be supervised by Pim and Wout. In the second workshop weekend you can learn to forge a rose, petal, or a dragon head where Pim and Kees will guide you. The third weekend you are going to make your own knife with Taru and Kees from real damask. You will work for three days in the beautiful workshop with anvils and huge bellows. During this creative process Taru, Pim and Wout will provide you with all technical knowledge and assist you in the production of your own work. Of course, we regularly have “breaks” to discuss each other's work and to exchange ideas. And working makes you hungry. Will you be able to cook the meals of our chefs with your own knife?
Forging metal is an art. Working with high temperatures and different techniques requires knowledge and experience. Alongside a team of skilled craftsmen, Taru will teach you how to make your own tools (such as hammers and pliers), forge a rose, petal or dragon head and forge your own knife from Damascus steel.
You will work in our beautiful workshop, fully equipped with anvils and huge bellows. We will have regular breaks to discuss our work and to exchange ideas.

The Green Circle is located in the natural estate of De Zonnebloem in the east of the Netherlands. Our spaces are all built with nature in mind. The metal forging workshop, for example, stands between two banks and features a grass roof. Our basketry and sculpture workshops are held in a beautiful wooden structure, sheltered with a cotton tarpaulin. Our new field kitchen features a cozy campfire and is protected by a large roof. During your stay, you can sleep in a tent, a camper or a log cabin on our premises. Alternatively, there are lots of B&Bs, hostels and hotels nearby.
